SWIMMING POOL RULES

Dear guest:

"In order to create and maintain a pleasant and safe environment at the swimming pools, we ask that you read these swimming pool rules before using the facilities and services. We also ask that you follow the instructions and cooperate with the lifeguards and other staff at the aquatic centre, as they are all there to ensure your safety and well-being.”

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The children’s pools are for children under 12 years of age, who must always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Adults and teenagers must not use the children’s pools, except when accompanying children who cannot use them independently.
  • The main pools may be used by children aged 4 to 12 under the constant supervision of an adult. For safety and hygiene reasons, children under 4 are not permitted to use them.
  • The bubble pool is for the exclusive use of adults aged 18 and over.
  • The water slides are for those aged 6 and over who are taller than 110 cm and can swim. Children under 14 must be supervised by an adult.
  • If lifeguards or any member of staff repeatedly have to remind a guest of these rules, that guest may be refused access to the facilities.
  • Management reserves the right to use any area of the facilities at any time for activities.
  • Management reserves the right to amend opening hours and even to close the swimming pools at any time to resolve any issues relating to the facilities (cleaning, maintenance, repairs, etc.), in the interests of all users.
  • Management accepts no liability for accidents resulting from users’ negligence.

MANDATORY

  • The use of swim nappies for children who still require them. In the event of a ‘faecal accident’, the customer responsible for the closure of the swimming pool must pay €300 to cover the costs of hyperchlorination, treatment and cleaning of the pool.
  • Wearing bathing shoes in the showers and wet areas to reduce the risk of slipping.
  • Shower before entering the pools to remove all types of residue, such as sand, creams, oils and similar substances, which affect the hygiene and clarity of the water.
  • Evacuate the pool in the event of a storm due to the risk of electric shock.

PROHIBITED

  • Eating and drinking inside the swimming pools.
  • Access is prohibited to anyone suffering from a contagious illness or who has been unwell within the last 48 hours.
  • Throwing objects or people into the swimming pool.
  • Diving into the water or performing stunts of any kind.
  • Entering the swimming pools while showing signs of intoxication.
  • Engaging in behaviour that disturbs or endangers other users (running, diving in violently, playing devices at a disturbing volume, littering, etc.) and which hinders or prevents activities from taking place, causes damage to the facilities or affects general hygiene.
  • Bringing glass objects (glasses, jars, mirrors, bottles, etc.) onto the premises.
  • The use of inflatables in general (air mattresses, boats, rings, balloons, balls and similar items), as they hinder supervision. This does not apply to items used in organised and supervised activities. The use of swimming boards and rubber rings is permitted under the direct supervision of an adult.
  • Armbands and children’s floats are toys, not safety aids; they may only be used in areas where the child can touch the bottom and under the direct supervision of an adult.
  • Leaving items on sun loungers to reserve them, as this prevents staff from carrying out cleaning and maintenance work. Any items found outside swimming pool opening hours will be removed without prior notice.
  • Bringing in underwater swimming equipment such as diving masks, flippers or blunt objects, or anything that may disturb other users.
  • Wearing prescription glasses or sunglasses in the water. Specialist swimming goggles are permitted.
  • Taking photographs or videos of other users without their express consent (Organic Law on Data Protection).
  • Placing parasols, hammocks, sun loungers, chairs, air mattresses or inflatable pools, etc., on the lawns, except in areas expressly designated for this purpose.
  • Using the swimming pool outside the opening hours indicated for each pool, or when it is closed for any reason.

RULES FOR THE USE OF SUN LOUNGERS

  • For active use only: Sun loungers are intended solely for guests who are actively using the pool area.
  • No reserving: Sun loungers may not be reserved with towels, bags or other personal items while you are away.
  • Inactivity checks: Staff carry out regular checks. If a sun lounger is unoccupied, a sticker will be placed on it indicating the time of the check (‘Checked Time’) and the time of the next check (‘Next Check’). If you are using the sun lounger, please remove the sticker.
  • Removal of belongings: If one hour has elapsed without the sticker being removed, the sun lounger will be considered free. Belongings will be taken to the Lost Property office (at the pool entrance or at Reception after closing time).
  • Personal belongings: The hotel accepts no liability for the loss of or damage to items left unattended. Guests are responsible for keeping their belongings with them at all times.
  • Acceptance: Use of the sun loungers implies full acceptance of these rules.

RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING SUN EXPOSURE

  • Avoid exposure to the sun during the middle of the day (12:00 to 17:00), as well as prolonged exposure or napping.
  • Minimise the amount of skin exposed directly to the sun. Lightweight clothing, tightly knitted tops and long trousers will block most of the sun’s rays. The most comfortable clothing in hot climates is light-coloured cotton shirts. It is recommended that you cover your head with a hat or cap.
  • The sun can also damage your eyes, so it is advisable to wear approved sunglasses that filter out at least 90 per cent of ultraviolet radiation.
  • Use sun protection products with a high sun protection factor (SPF) that are suitable for your age, skin type and the area of the body. These products should be applied generously 30 minutes before going out in the sun and reapplied every two hours and after swimming. Remember that even highly effective sun protection products cannot guarantee total protection against the health risks posed by ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
  • Take care both in and around the water, as UV radiation can penetrate up to one metre into the water.
  • Take special care to protect children, as they are very sensitive to overexposure to the sun at this time of year. Children under the age of 3 should also be kept out of the sun. Sun creams with a high sun protection factor should be used (SPFs of over 40 are recommended).
  • If you are taking medication, check that it does not increase your skin’s sensitivity to UV radiation.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO PREVENT DROWNING, TRAUMA AND SPINAL CORD INJURIES

  • Check the depth of the swimming pool before going in to avoid accidents.
  • Do not dive headfirst or in any other way, nor perform any kind of acrobatics. A bad fall, even if you land in the water, can result in a serious injury.
  • It is recommended that you enter the water slowly to avoid sudden changes in temperature.
  • Keep a constant watch on children when they are near recreational water, even if there is only a small amount.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol before any activity in or near the water.
  • Showering before entering the water will help your body acclimatise to the temperature and prevent indigestion and other complications.
  • Do not jump on top of other people in the water.
  • In the event of an accident, if it is necessary to retrieve and move the injured person, it is very important to immobilise the neck, avoid moving the spine and call a professional to carry out the transfer. The injured person must not be transported in a private vehicle.
